Birth certificate
The birth certificate is issued from the register of births and contains the child's name, date and place of birth as well as the names of the parents.
You can only obtain your birth certificate from the registry office in the place of birth. If you need a birth certificate that is more than 110 years old, please contact the city archives in Bonn.

Birth certificate for the family register/family book
The birth certificate is issued on a special form suitable for your family register.

Transcript from the register of births
In the event of any changes to the data, e.g. due to adoption or a change of name, a transcript from the register of births is more meaningful, as the birth certificate only reflects the current status of all details.

This certificate can also be issued with all information known to the registry office and is required in this form for marriage registration, among other things.

International birth certificate
The birth certificate can also be issued on a multilingual form for use abroad or with foreign authorities.

Abridged version of the birth certificate
On request, your birth certificate can also be issued without stating the sex, religion or names of the parents.

Certificate of descent
With the introduction of the new civil status law on 01.01.2009, the distinction between a certificate of descent and a birth certificate has been abolished.

Unfortunately, there is currently a waiting time of several weeks for requests for certificates. If you need the certificates more quickly, you are welcome to visit us in person during opening hours. As a rule, the certificates will then be issued at your appointment and handed over against payment of the fees.
The persons named on the certificate are entitled to collect it in person. If necessary, you can also authorize someone in writing. To do this, please present the power of attorney and a copy of an official identity document.
