Overview
The City of Bonn supports cultural institutions within the framework of institutional funding (operating funding).
This refers to grants to cover the entire operating expenses (personnel and material expenses) incurred by the recipient of the grant in the performance of its ongoing cultural tasks.
Funding is therefore not provided for individual projects, but for all annual activities of the institutions and their existing offerings.
Cultural institutions that are continuously active and whose work is of particular importance for the cultural life of the City of Bonn can apply for institutional funding.
This is regular funding with fixed grant amounts.
A complete application consists of a formal funding application as well as a complete and balanced business plan in terms of income and expenditure, including a staffing plan. When applying for the first time, a description of the content and objectives of the cultural work and, if applicable, the association's articles of association must also be submitted.
In addition to institutional funding, project funding can also be granted for special projects.
The Council of the City of Bonn decides on the amount of the grants and the possible inclusion of cultural institutions in the institutional funding during the budget deliberations.
In the case of a double budget, the decision covers operating funding for two financial years. The deadline for submitting applications depends on the timetable for the respective budget consultations.
We recommend that you contact us by telephone for advice and clarification of current questions, particularly with regard to the application deadline.
