Dementia counseling

Overview

The number of people with dementia is steadily increasing due to the ageing of society. In the City of Bonn alone, there are currently around 6,000 people living with dementia in a mild to advanced stage.

In March 2022, a dementia counseling service for Bonn citizens was set up in cooperation with the City of Bonn in the gerontopsychiatric outpatient clinic of the LVR Clinic in Bonn. This service is funded by the Bonn Geriatric Care Foundation. The central aim of this specialist advice center is to improve the living situation of people with dementia and their caring relatives. People with dementia should be supported in leading a self-determined life in their own home for as long as possible. Early professional advice can help both sufferers and family caregivers to make use of existing support and relief services in good time and thus prevent overburdening.
