Description
Bonn is to become a more socially just city. The participation of children and families, generational justice and family friendliness as well as educational opportunities, integration and social cohesion of all population groups should be strengthened.
This requires a city-wide strategy, the development of which should involve both internal and external stakeholders. The Social Justice Program Office began work on this strategy in August 2022. The program office works on the topic of social justice across departments and groups. The areas of action housing and living environment as well as strengthening the participation of children and reducing child poverty in our city are the initial focus areas.
As the office of the Social Justice Steering Committee, the program office coordinates the development of sub-strategies for social justice in cooperation with the responsible and relevant offices - and in the next step with external stakeholders. This process is monitored and controlled by the steering committee. In the future, the programme office will also coordinate the process for prioritizing social justice projects in the city of Bonn.
In addition, the city will strive for the "Child-friendly municipality" seal, the coordination of which lies with the program office. Municipal services, planning and structures are to be improved in line with children's rights and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child is to be consistently implemented. By participating in the "Child-friendly municipality" process, Bonn is making the well-being of children and young people as well as future generations the benchmark.
