Joint contact point Bonn city center - GABI station

Description

In 1992, a joint contact point was set up by the city administration and police in the Maximilian-Passage area of Bonn's city center (Gemeinsame Anlaufstelle Bonner Innenstadt - G.A.B.I. - City-Streife) in order to address the corresponding social, regulatory and security problems in the city center.

The aim is to improve the objective security situation and the subjective sense of security of the population, while at the same time offering assistance to socially marginalized groups in the inner city area, through close cooperation between the employees of the city administration and the police working at the joint contact point.

In addition, constant cooperation based on trust must be ensured with the federal police (railroad police), Bonn's public utilities and independent welfare organizations.

This project of cooperation between the city administration and the police in a social and security hotspot, which was initially unique in North Rhine-Westphalia, has proved its worth since its inception. Thanks to the early intervention of employees in dangerous situations on site, the objective security in the "Bonner Loch" has been greatly improved.

Area of responsibility:
Bonn Central Station forecourt ("Bonner Loch") and the entire inner city area within the boundary: Cityring, railroad line, Hofgartenwiese, banks of the Rhine
