Nordstadt has always been the counterpart to the affluent south of the city. The special significance of this district arose after the bombing raid in 1944. The district has always been shaped by the "working" population who used to live there, the tradespeople and small business owners as well as the craftsmen.
Experience the cherry blossom in spring or take a stroll along Heerstraße with its milestone and Jupiter's Column. See the former Roman water pipeline, Germany's first women's museum and some of the beautiful Wilhelminian-style houses of the Freimauerloge.
Today, romantic and artistically designed courtyards, a variety of artists' studios and fine dining characterize the Inner Nordstadt. A walk through Bonn's "Old Town" shows Bonn's history and the colorful diversity of the city in a particularly endearing way.
