RaBo - Bonn bike course

Who are we?

RaBo is a cooperation project between the city of Bonn, the ADFC Bonn/Rhein-Sieg, the Bonn police and the Bonn-Zentrum für Lehrerbildung at the University of Bonn.

RaBo was developed jointly by the aforementioned institutions in the "School" working group.

What are we doing?

The mobile cycle course visits schools in Bonn to teach pupils how to cycle responsibly and safely on the roads. The pupils use their own bicycles to try out a course developed by the working group, which builds on the cycling training in elementary school.

The course is designed for grades 5 and 6, but can also be used in a simplified form at elementary school.

The driving training takes place in the school playground and is carried out free of charge by trained teams with the participation of a teacher.

Why are we doing this?

Cycling is an environmentally friendly form of mobility. Cycling is healthy, provides social contact on the way to school and teaches traffic behavior.

Who can help? Urgent support wanted!

The course is run by trained teams. These consist of members of the ADFC Bonn/Rhein-Sieg and interns (mostly students at the University of Bonn).

We are currently (September 2023) urgently looking for helping hands to strengthen our teams who carry out the action days at the schools. Student teachers, for example, can help to teach children about environmentally friendly forms of mobility and how to be safe on the road. In doing so, they practise interacting with pupils and gain important professional experience.

Participation in the project is recognized as an internship by the Bonn-Zentrum für Lehrerfortbildung.
