The German-Maltese Society was founded in Bonn in June 1991. The focus of its tasks and activities is the constant effort to establish personal contacts with its European neighbor Malta. The society has set itself the goal of further improving cultural, social and societal relations between Germany and Malta. The DMG endeavors to promote close cooperation between Germans and Maltese by deepening friendly relations. In the future, the society would like to pave the way for young people in particular. Its work therefore focuses on youth, school and student exchanges, as well as cooperation in the cultural field. Special attention is also paid to arranging partnerships between associations and towns between the two countries.
The members of the German-Maltese Society come mainly from Germany and Malta. The general meeting takes place once a year, usually in connection with a short trip. This provides an opportunity for a lively exchange of ideas, information and experiences and traditionally leads to regions in Germany and abroad that have a connection to the Order of Malta or the Order of St. John.
The newsletter is published four times a year and informs members about German-Maltese cooperation projects as well as current topics, events and dates "all about Malta". All members receive the newsletter free of charge.
