Intelligent irrigation technology with LoRaWAN
In a pilot project, the Office for the Environment and Urban Greenery is testing the use of moisture sensors in the sense of intelligent irrigation technology in municipal young tree care.
The data transmitted is intended to provide insights that will enable more efficient and needs-based use of the valuable resource of water against the backdrop of climate change. With a view to the optimal development of the tree, this project is to be designed in a cost-saving manner in future with well-organized personnel deployment. Data transmission is particularly energy-efficient thanks to LoRaWan technology.
At the same time, the city administration is testing various tree substrates for their water retention capacity, among other things, in order to achieve the best possible conditions for good tree vitality in the future. The financial investment in this project is thus being utilized in the best possible way and is future-oriented in all directions.
