City of Bonn

Climate

The climate is changing drastically. The emission of greenhouse gases by humans is contributing significantly to the climatic changes on our planet. People have already been feeling the effects for a long time - including in Bonn: prolonged droughts, more frequent flooding and heavy rainfall.

To counteract the climate crisis, the City of Bonn is pursuing two central approaches: Climate protection and climate adaptation. Climate protection focuses on the reduction and avoidance of greenhouse gases. Climate adaptation is about adapting as a city to the unavoidable consequences of climate change. To ensure that climate protection and adaptation succeed, the city of Bonn supports private and commercial activities with funding programs ranging from greening buildings and unsealing to photovoltaic expansion. Data plays a pioneering role in the climate crisis. Key figures for climate protection and the goal of climate neutrality are gradually being published in the climate dashboard.
