In Germany, limit values for the operation of mobile phone systems are set out in the 26th Ordinance to the Federal Immission Control Act (Ordinance on Electromagnetic Fields - 26th BImSchV (opens in a new tab)). The Federal Network (opens in a new tab) Agency for Electricity, Gas, Telecommunications, Post and Railway (BNetzA) is responsible for calculating the necessary safety distances and checking them.

The BNetzA regularly carries out control measurements throughout Germany for verification purposes. The municipal building inspectorate checks whether the planned transmission systems are permissible under building regulations.
