Around 3,800 people of legal age live in care facilities in Bonn. Due to their age, need for care or disability, they are dependent on residential and care services and require special protection.

The fulfillment of the obligations of the providers of residential and care services is monitored by the WTG authorities (formerly home supervision) of the respective district-free city through regular and ad hoc inspections.
