Certificates after notarization

Once the birth of your child has been certified, you will receive various certificates:

Certificate for parental allowance
Send the certificate with the imprint "Only valid for applying for parental allowance" together with the parental allowance application to the office responsible for your place of residence.

In principle, responsibility lies with the districts and independent cities. In Bonn, please contact the
Office for Children, Youth and Family

Certificate for child benefit
Send the certificate with the imprint "Only valid for applying for child benefit" to the family benefits office at the employment agency responsible for your place of residence. For the first child, the application for child benefit should be sent together with the certificate. If you are employed in the public sector, submit the application for child benefit to your employer.

With its online service for child benefit, the Bonn/Rhein-Sieg Employment Agency supports the use of the "online ID function" of the new ID card. Parents can access the service after registering on the  website (opens in a new tab). Further information is available from the Federal Employment Agency.

The  Familienkasse Nordrhein Westfalen West (opens in a new tab) is responsible for the city of Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district.

Each child receives its own tax identification number. It is issued by the Federal Central Tax Office and is important for determining entitlement to child benefit. Further information can be found on the website of the  Federal Central Tax Office (opens in a new tab).

Certificate for maternity benefit
The "Certificate for applying for maternity and pregnancy assistance" should be submitted to the health insurance fund with which the mother is insured.

Registration office
The registry office informs the registration office about the birth of your child.
