Pupils up to the age of 25 receive benefits if they attend a general or vocational school and do not receive a training allowance. An application for personal school supplies must only be submitted to the Education and Participation Service Center if you receive housing benefit and child supplement. For all other basic benefits (receipt of current benefits from unemployment benefit II and social benefit (SGB II), social assistance (SGB XII) or benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (AsylbLG)), you do not need to submit a separate application. In this case, school supplies (pens, books, sportswear, etc.), which will amount to 150 euros per year from August 1, 2019, will be paid automatically in two installments (100 euros on August 1 and 50 euros on February 1) with the standard benefit. These amounts are adjusted each school year.
Which documents must be submitted?
No additional documentation is required for children aged seven to fourteen. For beneficiaries under the age of 6 or between the ages of 15 and 25, a school certificate is required, which can be obtained from the school.
