Based on Section 41 ( 1) (f) and (i) of the Municipal Code for the State of North Rhine-Westphalia in the version published on July 14, 1994 (GV. NRW. p. 666, SGV. NRW. 2023), last amended by Article 1 of the Act of December 18, 2018 (GV. NRW. p. 738), the Council of the City of Bonn adopted the following usage, remuneration and fee regulations at its meeting on May 14, 2019:
1. rules of use
1.1
The regular opening hours of the House of Nature are
In the summer months (April to October):
Wednesday to Friday: 10 am to 5 pm
Saturday/Sunday and public holidays: 10 am to 6 pm
In the winter months (November to March):
Wednesday to Sunday and public holidays: 10 am to 5 pm
1.2
Admission to the temporary and permanent exhibitions is free of charge.
1.3
Smoking is not permitted on the premises of the House of Nature.
2. premises
2.1
Insofar as the seminar rooms in the Haus der Natur, An der Waldau 48, 53127 Bonn, are not used for in-house events, they may be made available to third parties for events in accordance with these Terms of Use, Fees and Charges. The premises are made available exclusively for events on topics relating to education for sustainable development, nature conservation or sustainability.
2.2
The seminar rooms in the Haus der Natur are available on request. The application must be submitted in writing to Haus der Natur, An der Waldau 48, 53127 Bonn, or via the request form on the website. The exact topic of the event must be specified.
2.3
A written rental agreement will be concluded for the use of the property.
2.4
Fee schedule for seminar rooms
2.4.1
A private-law fee (rent) is charged for the use of the seminar rooms.
The rent for seminar room 1 (36 m²) is as follows
- for the first 3 hours: 75 euros
- for each additional hour or part thereof: 25 euros
- for one day (maximum daily rate): 150 euros
For seminar room 2 (110 m²) the rent is
- for the first 3 hours: 225 euros
- for each additional hour or part thereof: 75 euros
- for one day (maximum daily rate): 450 euros
The above rent includes the costs for WLAN, lectern and lecture seating (seminar room 1 maximum 20 persons/seminar room 2 maximum 50 persons), lighting and heating as well as cleaning.
2.4.2
The seminar rooms will be made available free of charge to municipal departments that hold events on topics relating to education for sustainable development, nature conservation or sustainability(see section 2.1).
Non-profit organizations in Bonn are granted a 50 % discount on this rate if they do not generate any income from the event.
If the event does generate income, the reduction is 20%.
Organizations with which the City of Bonn, Office for Urban Greenery, House of Nature, has concluded a cooperation agreement can use the seminar rooms free of charge if the event does not generate any income and corresponds to the platform function of the House of Nature in the field of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD).
2.4.3
Additional services used by third parties (e.g. staff support, special seating, additional cleaning costs, etc.) will be invoiced at actual cost.
2.4.4
The premises of the Haus der Natur may be rented outside of the specified opening hours if staff capacity permits. If necessary, a surcharge may be levied depending on the additional actual personnel and organizational costs (supervision by additional staff, technical support, etc.).
2.4.5
Additional technology and equipment provided by the Haus der Natur will be charged per day as follows
- Monitor 25 Euro
- Beamer 20 Euro
- Pin board 10 Euro
- Flipchart 10 Euro
- Presentation case 10 Euro

2.4.6
The rent is due and payable upon conclusion of the rental agreement, unless a later date is specified in the rental agreement. All further details are regulated in the specific rental agreement with the users.
3. fee schedule for the environmental education programs
The House of Nature's environmental education program includes standard workshops for kindergartens and schools as well as open events as part of the annual program.
3.1
The standard workshops were developed based on the curricula of the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the "Educational principles for children aged 0 to 10 in daycare centers and primary schools in North Rhine-Westphalia".
The cost of a 1.5 to 2-hour standard workshop is 90 euros. A 3-hour standard workshop costs 125 euros.
The following groups from the Bonn city area are exceptions:
- School classes from all schools
- Kindergarten groups
These can use the workshops at the Haus der Natur free of charge.
- Groups from social institutions in the Bonn city area, for example old people's and children's homes, can use the workshops free of charge, subject to staff availability.
3.2
The participation fees for events as part of the annual program are intended to cover 50% of the costs incurred. Costs for catering or cost-intensive materials may have to be covered in full by the participants.
4. fee schedule
The fee for freelancers is:
- For standard guided tours/workshops 35 euros per hour, plus a preparation and follow-up fee of 20 euros.
- For responsible stand support at events 35 euros per hour.
- For non-responsible stand supervision at events 20 euros per hour.
- For educational and technical support of the permanent exhibition 35 euros per hour (excluding preparation and follow-up fee).
5. entry into force
These Terms of Use, Fees and Charges shall enter into force on the day following their publication in the Amtsblatt.
