Bonn is committed to inclusion in sport: in 2022, the city hosted the Special Olympics NRW state games. In 2023, Chinese athletes came to the federal city as part of the Host Town Program to take part in the Special Olympics World Games in Berlin.
Based on this experience, the city, the Bonn City Sports Association, the Special Olympics NRW and the Bonn Disabled Community have founded the "Sport and Inclusion" network. The aim is to promote inclusion in sport in Bonn and to support clubs in setting up inclusive sports programs.
That is why there will be a symposium on Saturday, March 9, 2024. The event "Sport and inclusion - how does inclusion work in sport" aims to provide information as well as practical examples. There will be several workshops, such as balance training, wheelchair basketball, inclusive tennis and dancing. Participants can exchange ideas and experience inclusive sport for themselves.
