Combined swimming pool at Ennertbad

Examinations for the construction of a new indoor pool at the Ennertbad have shown that a lengthy amendment to the development plan would not be necessary if the already developed areas at the swimming pool were used for the new building. The outdoor pool buildings erected in 1981 could be replaced by a new indoor pool building with a shared entrance area, staff rooms, changing rooms and sanitary facilities for both indoor and outdoor pool guests. This would create a genuine combined pool at the Ennertbad that could be used all year round.

Further planning for this measure can only begin once the appropriate personnel resources are available in the municipal building management department (SGB).

Beueler Bütt

The Beueler Bütt is in great need of renovation. The renovation of the pool slope in the 2021/22 season did not lead to the desired result, as leaks have reappeared. The administration is currently unable to predict whether it will be possible to operate the Beueler Bütt until the new indoor pool at Ennertbad is completed. Further investigations will be carried out in the next outdoor pool season in 2024. The administration will then draw up a concept with costs and closing times for the absolutely necessary measures.

Renovation of the Frankenbad and accessibility

The project to renovate the Frankenbad was taken over by the SGB in June 2023. Due to the complexity of the building refurbishment, the administration believes that a feasibility study should be carried out beforehand in order to gain fundamental insights into the refurbishment capability of the pool. External experts have been commissioned to draw up the list of requirements/tasks for the study. They are currently reviewing and evaluating the existing documents. Further as-built analyses, such as a building inspection, have been commissioned. As soon as the latter are available, a schedule for the start and end dates of the feasibility study can be presented.

An external architect has been commissioned with the planning for the provisional creation of barrier-free accessibility in the Frankenbad. Completion of the measures is planned for the second quarter of 2024. Indoor swimming pool at Sportpark Nord

The refurbishment and extension of the indoor swimming pool at Sportpark Nord is part of the refurbishment plans for the main building and the development and realignment of the facility. The preliminary design is expected to be presented to the political bodies for approval at the end of the first quarter of 2024.

Interim pool

Due to the looming delay in the start of construction work on the Frankenbad and Sportpark Nord and staff shortages, it has not yet been possible to start work on drawing up functional specifications for the construction of an interim pool.

Renovation and extension of the Hardtbergbad

Tenders are currently being invited for the approval planning. An office for the technical building equipment services has already been secured. The tenders for the architectural planning and project management are still ongoing. Once the contract has been awarded, further planning should begin at the end of 2023/beginning of 2024. The funding decision for the six million euros in funding promised by the federal government is still pending. The renovation work is due to start at the beginning of 2025; the pool is scheduled to reopen in summer 2027.

New construction of the Kurfürstenbad

The preliminary design plans were drawn up under the leadership of the Sports and Baths Office and approved by the Bad Godesberg district council on September 6, 2023. Preparations for the demolition are proceeding according to plan. The administration intends to award the contract by the end of the year. Work is scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2024. The plan is to open the pool in summer 2027.
