The aim of the tree concept is to plant additional street trees throughout the city in order to make an important contribution to climate adaptation and biodiversity in the city. New locations are to be created, particularly in neighborhoods where there are currently only a few trees. To this end, an experienced specialist office has examined the entire urban area on the basis of various criteria - including settlement and population density, the climatic situation in the neighborhood and the number of treeless streets in the statistical districts.
As part of the tree concept, the city will closely involve residents in the districts in future tree planting projects and inform them about the plans at an early stage.
Public information event planned for Lannesdorf
Following a decision by the Bad Godesberg district council, the next step is to plant additional street trees in Lannesdorf. The tree concept has identified 29 potential locations in this district. Whether it will actually be possible to plant trees at all locations or whether there may be lines in the ground that prevent this will have to be investigated in more detail in the course of further planning.
First of all, the Office for the Environment and Urban Greenery will invite residents to an information event - probably in summer 2025. The experts will present the plans and discuss possible questions - such as the loss of parking spaces - in a direct exchange with residents and take up suggestions.
The agreed plans and the awarding of the planting and civil engineering work will then be presented to the district council for approval. Implementation of the work is currently planned for the coming planting period in winter 2025/2026.
Work in Neu-Duisdorf is complete
The first trees were planted as part of the tree concept in 2024 in the Neu-Duisdorf neighborhood in the Hardtberg district. The work has now been completed. A total of 34 street trees were planted. Initially, 42 were planned, but eight planned locations could not be realized due to water pipes found in the ground.
