Mayor Katja Dörner is delighted with the Council's decision: "I am convinced that Michael Fark, with his economic expertise and many years of management experience, will manage the city's finances excellently, even in the difficult times that lie ahead - in view of the urgent need for consolidation and with a view to the requirements of a growing, social and climate-friendly city."

Michael Fark: "I am very grateful for the trust placed in me by politicians and the administration. I look forward to working together in these challenging times. I am happy to talk to the parliamentary groups that have not (yet) supported me. We should now tackle the major budgetary tasks together in the interests of our City of Bonn."

Michael Fark graduated in business administration in September 2002 and successfully completed his Master's degree in Business Administration in December 2010. After working at Commerzbank AG Nuremberg and Sparkasse Harburg-Buxtehude, he joined Deutsche Telekom AG and its subsidiaries in October 2006. He initially worked in investment controlling for Telekom Shop Vertriebsgesellschaft mbH and from September 2007 to September 2011 as Head of Terms and Conditions Management. From October 2011 to June 2013, he headed the Outbound Business Customer Campaign Management department.

After a family phase, he took up employment at the North Rhine-Westphalia State Office of Metrology and Calibration in July 2015 and initially headed the Münster calibration office. In July 2016, he took over the management of the "Central Services" division of the directorate. In this role, he headed a business division with the departments "Finance/Controlling", "Information Technology", "Strategy, Organization and Internal Services" and "Human Resources Management".

Michael Fark has been working at the Bonn/Rhine-Sieg Chamber of Industry and Commerce since January 2021. There he heads a division with the departments "Finance and IT", "Legal and Contribution", "Human Resources and Internal Services" and "Business Development and Service Center". Since July 2023, he has also held the position of Deputy Managing Director.
