This section of Friedrich-Breuer-Straße is reserved for buses, trains, cabs, delivery traffic and bicycles. Other motor vehicles cannot use the road. In addition, the side areas were temporarily (June to July 2024) upgraded with mobile elements such as benches and planters.
The city of Bonn is currently evaluating the experiences and results of the test phase so far. It is being supported by a specialist office with traffic load figures. The figures are necessary for the Beuel district council to decide on the future traffic routing. They are now available and will be evaluated in the coming weeks. The evaluation of the results and the resulting proposals from the administration will take several weeks to process. The current traffic routing will therefore be retained for the time being so as not to pre-empt a political decision based on the figures. As soon as the results are available, the Beuel district council will decide on the future traffic routing.
In addition to examining the traffic figures, a survey of public opinion will also be carried out. To this end, the City of Bonn will conduct a survey on the participation platform www.bonn-macht-mit.de (opens in a new tab) in the near future. The aim of the survey will be to gather experiences on the topics of traffic routing, side spaces and street furniture.
The experience gained from this survey, together with the findings from the traffic counts, will then be incorporated into a proposal by the administration for future traffic management. The administration is expected to present a corresponding proposal at one of the first two meetings of the Beuel district council in 2025.
Further information on the redesign of Friedrich-Breuer-Straße and public participation can be found at www.bonn.de/fbs. (opens in a new tab) The 14-day online participation period will start in the next few days. The city administration will provide further information.
