Accordingly, the basic price will rise from 3.40 to 3.60 euros. The first kilometer will cost 3.50 euros instead of the previous 3.35 euros. From the second kilometer and for each additional kilometer, the charge will now be 2.11 euros instead of the previous 2 euros. At night and on Sundays and public holidays, the charge will be 2.21 euros instead of 2.10 euros. Traffic-related and ordered waiting times will now be charged at 31.60 euros per hour (previously 30 euros). The price for an unsuccessful journey will rise from 6.80 to 7.20 euros.
As decided by the Bonn City Council in 2018, the fare increase corresponds to the most recent price increases for bus and rail services by the Rhine-Sieg Transport Association (VRS). The VRS fare was increased by an average of 5.44 percent in 2023.
The new regulation comes into force four weeks after the day of its announcement in the Amtsblatt of the city of Bonn. The last time fares were raised was in November 2022. At that time, however, this was independent of price increases in local public transport, but to compensate for the additional financial burden on cab companies due to the high inflation rate and the rise in fuel and energy prices.
