Damage to sewer in Kapellenweg detected

During the sewer renovation in Clara-Wieck-Straße/Mendelssohnstraße in Rüngsdorf, the civil engineering office discovered damage to a neighboring manhole in Kapellenweg at house number 33a on Monday, March 31, 2025. A cavity was also discovered in the immediate vicinity.

For safety reasons, the affected section of the Kapellenweg road has been closed. The civil engineering department is now replacing the affected manhole and removing the cavity. The ongoing construction work at the Mendelssohnstraße/Kapellenweg junction has been suspended for the time being in order to reopen the road to traffic.

Due to the extent of the construction work, traffic disruptions are unavoidable. The construction work is taking place under full closure and a detour route has been set up. Local traffic will remain free. During the construction period, residents will only be able to use the parking spaces to a limited extent.

The sewer construction work on the damaged manhole is expected to last until the end of May 2025, after which the originally planned construction work in Mendelssohnstraße/Kapellenweg will continue. However, the possibility of further delays cannot be ruled out at present.
