City of Bonn

The path of democracy

The "Path of Democracy" consists of signposted stations at historical sites in the former government district in Bonn. The tour begins at the House of the History of the Federal Republic of Germany and takes just under two hours to pass historically significant stations.

Other locations, such as the Hofgartenwiese as the site of major demonstrations or the former headquarters of the major political parties, lie outside the "narrower" route.

In addition to the 21 large plaques, a further 43 locations of historical and political significance inside and outside the government district are marked by smaller text plaques.
