City history comes to life: The Bonn City Museum and the "studio_bnx"

The Bonn City Museum traces the history of Bonn from Roman times to the present day. Visitors can find answers here to the question of what circumstances and events have shaped Bonn today. Since 1998, the permanent exhibition has been housed in the former sauna and cleaning wing of the disused Viktoriabad at Franziskanerstraße 9. Visitors can also book guided tours, children's tours and special children's activities at the Stadtmuseum.

Opening hours: Saturdays from 1 to 6 pm and Sundays from 11 am to 4 pm. The studio_bnx is currently closed.

The  Ernst Moritz Arndt House and the  School Museum are also part of the City Museum.

What you can see in the city museum

More than 100 years after the founding call for a Bonn city museum, the museum opened its first permanent exhibition in January 1998. The museum's holdings are largely based on the collections of the Museumsverein and the 19th century donation of Bonn professor Obernier.

Bonn's history can be relived in the museum. The  collection now includes 12,000 exhibits that provide a multifaceted insight into the city's 2000-year history. 1500 of these can be seen in the exhibition, including medieval exhibits as well as objects that bring the Bonn of the electors to life or everyday life around 1900.
