29.1.2020 to 22.3.2020 in the Ernst Moritz Arndt House
To mark the 160th anniversary of the death of Arndt, who was born on December 26, 1769 on the island of Rügen and died on January 29, 1860 in what is now the Ernst Moritz Arndt House in Bonn, where he received guests for the first time 200 years ago in 1820.
In the oldest and only surviving professors' house in Bonn from the first decades of the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelm-Universität Bonn, which was founded in 1818 and is also the oldest villa on the banks of the Rhine outside the old city walls, a selection of objects from Arndt's personal possessions were on display in a small exhibition. These included paintings, books and writings that are now part of the Bonn City Museum collection or come from the Bonn City Archive, which holds the world's largest collection of Arndt autographs.
