A certificate of eligibility confirms the right to stand for election and thus the ability to be elected. Persons who are ineligible or unable to hold public office as a result of a judge's decision are excluded from eligibility. If you intend to stand as a candidate in an upcoming election, you will need the certificate of eligibility as part of the documents that must be submitted for the respective candidacy.
You will receive this if you have your registered main residence or habitual abode in Bonn and meet the eligibility requirements for the respective election.
