Barbecuing outdoors
Barbecues are generally permitted in public green spaces in accordance with the provisions of the North Rhine-Westphalia Immission Control Act, provided that there is no risk of fire or significant nuisance to other people or the surrounding area due to smoke, odor or fly ash.
Bonfires
Lighting a fire in your own garden is not generally prohibited. However, no one may be endangered or seriously inconvenienced.
The burning of waste of any kind is prohibited. Lumpy, untreated wood may be burned. Further details are regulated by § 7 of the State Immission Control Act (LImschG)
Campfires in public areas are not permitted in accordance with Section 3 of the Road Regulations. Accordingly, open fires are prohibited outside of approved tent or camping sites.
