The Civil Engineering Office is responsible for approving special uses in connection with construction work .

This includes the erection of scaffolding, rubble and material containers, construction fences and the like. Permission is also required for the installation of shoring supports with and without rear anchoring as well as the installation of display cases, vending machines and similar.

For commercial special uses (e.g. outdoor catering, sales facilities, structures at events, etc.), the Citizens' Services are responsible (see below under "Related services").

As a rule, the special use application must be submitted at least one week before the special use is exercised (§ 5 of the special use statutes).
