The first issue of a riding license plate and the annual sticker is only issued upon written application. The applicant must be of legal age.

Subsequent applications

Subsequent applications for the annual stickers to be renewed each year can be made informally in writing, by e-mail or online. The annual stickers can also be sent automatically on request. This arrangement can be revoked at any time. Any changes of address of the sticker holder must be announced here in good time, as there is no automatic data synchronization with the registration office.

Taking over a horse

When taking over a horse with an existing riding sticker (change of owner), the new owner can take over the old sticker. This requires a written application from the new owner stating that a change of owner has taken place with the old sticker in place. To avoid confusion, the old owner should report the change of owner here in advance.

Private use:

• Initial application (riding license plate + annual sticker): 39.40 euros
• Subsequent application (annual sticker only): 30.40 euros

Riding stables / commercial use:

• Initial application (riding license plate + annual sticker): 89.40 euros
• Subsequent application (annual sticker only): 80.40 euros

Anyone who rides out with a horse without a valid riding sticker or leads a horse without a valid riding sticker, or leaves the prescribed paths, is committing an administrative offense and must expect a fine.

Use of the riding levy

The revenue from the riding levy is used for a specific purpose and does not flow into the municipal budget. The lower nature conservation authorities transfer the revenue from the riding levy to the state. For each administrative district, the higher nature conservation authority at the district government administers the funds collected in its district. These funds are used to finance the maintenance and construction of bridleways. Damage to private roads and paths caused by horse riding is also compensated.
