Hunting licenses - Hunter examination

Overview

Hunting examination

The prerequisite for admission to the hunter's examination is the completion of the 15th year of age.

Admission to the hunting examination is by application (online or by post).

Hunting license

The hunting license can be applied for/extended if

  • you have passed the hunting examination in Germany,
  • you are at least 16 years old and
  • are in possession of valid hunting liability insurance valid for the period applied for.

We reserve the right to personally check your suitability to hunt at any time.

The hunting license can be issued for a period of validity of either 14 days (day hunting license), 1, 2 or 3 hunting years.

The extension/issue of your hunting license depends largely on the background check with various security authorities (e.g. police, Office for the Protection of the Constitution). It is not possible to predict with certainty how long this check will take due to the many agencies involved. The processing time for the issue/renewal of your hunting license is therefore unfortunately unpredictable. However, examination times of more than 2 months are not uncommon.

We will contact you unsolicited as soon as the background check has been completed, please refrain from making any independent enquiries.

The hunting license is valid throughout Germany.
