The Rhineland Regional Association is responsible for granting allowances for the blind and deaf (GHBG). These are generally only granted on application. Applications can be submitted to both the Rhineland Regional Association and the City of Bonn.

People aged 60 and over can also apply for assistance for the blind in addition to the allowance for the blind. The City of Bonn provides support with the application process and with questions about the requirements for assistance for the blind.
