The program for the Beethoven Year: A Rhenish-satirical encounter with the master
By and with Christoph Scheeben and Andreas Etienne
Now that half the world is upside down on the occasion of Beethoven's anniversary and the competition has flared up: Who can do more Beethoven? it's high time we got to know the master personally, in private, so to speak, and to take a closer look at his personality in a subtle Rhenish manner and gain some astonishing insights in the process: Did you know that the most famous son of our city moved 80 times in Vienna alone? So he can't have liked it that much there. That he had a weakness for sweets and easily knocked back 2 or 3 bottles of wine a day? He practically drank himself into Vienna! This and much more awaits you in this program, and it's all virtually true, just told in Rhenish. Beethoven was also far less misanthropic and grumpy than many people think, even if it was "a challenge" for many of his contemporaries, but normal for us, because "every Jeck is different. We think the master would have had great fun with the way Christoph Scheeben and Andreas Etienne tackle his legend. Satirically, but also musically, with compositions for "Adelaide" and "Elise" (whose real name was Therese), because his brilliant music is of course not neglected on this evening. Lisa Schumann on the violin and Darko Kostovski on the piano will make sure of that. You can look forward to a refreshingly relaxed program beyond plaster busts and kitsch souvenirs and the realization that this genius Beethoven was "irjenswie uch ene echt Bönnsche Jung. And who knows, maybe he will come by in person?
