Conservation of resources

As much as necessary, as little as possible!

Whether soil, water or raw materials: many of our resources are finite and will be used up at some point. In view of climate change, environmental protection and social justice, it is important to use our resources as efficiently as possible. This includes measures such as maintaining existing buildings instead of building new ones, circular economy and the longevity of products.

Conserving resources is a key issue that affects not only politics, but also the economy in particular. If we use finite raw materials wisely and in a planned manner, they will remain available for future generations. In addition, this type of value creation has less of a negative impact on our ecosystems.

It is often forgotten or not considered that the extraction and processing of many resources alone represent a major environmental burden. From the extraction of raw materials to processing, from the design of products to trade, consumption and reuse or disposal: Nothing should be done at the expense of the ecosystem, future generations or other societies.

The most important aspect of resource conservation is to avoid finite raw materials wherever possible and to use natural, regenerating raw materials instead. Added to this is the development of a circular economy to protect resources through recycling.

For example, companies can conserve resources by using green electricity or generating their own electricity using solar energy, observing sustainability standards in the production of goods, making their company mobility climate-friendly or producing office equipment from certified waste paper. Further opportunities for optimization lie in office equipment and supplies. From waste separation, reusable food packaging and drinking water dispensers to a zero-waste canteen with vegetarian cuisine and an economical heating and lighting system, there are many ways to save resources in the company - regardless of the size of the company.
