Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) stands for corporate social responsibility and the corporate strategy of reconciling economic benefit with social responsibility. Specifically, it is about the influence of business on sustainable development in the areas of economy, ecology and social affairs. This includes, for example, the economical use of resources and the protection of the climate and environment. But it is also about fair business practices, a personnel policy that is geared towards employees and social commitment - locally, nationally and internationally.
The Economy for the Common Good (ECG) focuses on an ethical business culture. It offers an alternative to the currently prevailing understanding of our economic system and is based on the values of human dignity, ecological responsibility, solidarity and social justice as well as democratic co-determination.
The building blocks of a good CSR and ECG strategy can therefore be found in many areas of sustainable business. One focus is the assumption of responsibility for one's own economic activity. It also involves actively having a positive social impact on society.
CSR and ECG measures almost always increase a company's success: taking responsibility improves its image. This can make it easier to attract customers, business partners, junior staff and skilled workers. It also improves the working atmosphere, which in turn has a positive effect on productivity.
CSR and ECG measures are very diverse: starting with human dignity, solidarity and justice in the supply chain, fair income distribution, employee campaigns, co-determination and employee participation, the promotion of diversity and inclusion, donations for ecological or social projects, the initiation of own voluntary projects through to environmentally friendly company mobility or the energy optimization of company buildings.
