The aging local transport plan of the city of Bonn is to be fundamentally redesigned and updated. Following a resolution passed by the Bonn City Council on November 12, 2024, it will be adapted to changes in the legal framework, among other things. The process is expected to take two years.
The purpose of a local transport plan is to create a viable and financially realistic basis for the organization of public transport for each public transport authority and to ensure a coordinated approach by all parties involved.
As the new plan will take some time to draw up, a tender for the new planning of bus routes in the city center, which is necessary as part of the "Uni meets City" master plan project (Rathausgasse/Am Hof/Wesselstraße), will be issued independently of this.
As part of the annual updates to the local transport plan, potential service improvements and measures - including in the bus network - are continuously reviewed and implemented in coordination with SWB Bus und Bahn. Depending on passenger demand, for example, routes are changed or frequencies are increased.
