The Mongolian capital has been a partner of the city of Bonn since 1993. One million people live in the city - around a quarter of Mongolia's total population. The trend is still rising due to the continuing rural exodus. As a major city caught between tradition and modernity, Ulan Bator faces major social challenges.
In addition to a lively cultural dialog and youth exchange activities, the focus is on the exchange of municipal experience and joint project work, particularly in the areas of sustainable urban development and environmental protection.
