IRENA's Innovation and Technology Center (IITC) promotes the widespread and increased use of all forms of renewable energy and aims to be the global voice for the use of renewable energy. The Information and Technology Center provides access to relevant sources of information on renewable energy and provides technical data, economic data and data on the potential of a renewable energy source.

Funded by the German government, the advisory institution is to develop scientific scenarios for the promotion of renewable energies in industrialized countries, but also in developing and emerging countries in particular, and contribute to the global transition to resource-saving technologies in cooperation with the IRENA headquarters in Abu Dhabi. With the technology and innovation analyses of the IITC, IRENA can offer support in establishing suitable framework conditions, expand expertise and develop new financing models.
