German-British Society e.V.
The German-English Society (since 2001: German-British Society/DBG) was founded in Düsseldorf in 1949. Its aim is the comprehensive promotion of relations between Germany and Great Britain. The DBG aims to discuss political, economic, social and cultural issues that affect both nations, to break down prejudices, to strengthen and advance the common Europe and to maintain personal contacts across borders.
The tasks of the DBG include
-
Organizing lecture events in numerous German cities where British experts talk about their country and at the same time learn about their German audience's views, ideas and attitudes towards the UK. The Bonn working group invites citizens of all nationalities and professions - especially school and university students - to attend these lectures (see Events Calendar in the daily press).
-
The annual Königswinter Conference brings together German and British parliamentarians, cabinet members, diplomats and experts from business, academia and journalism, alternately in Germany and the UK. Since 1960, the DBG has also organized an annual German-British Youth Conference (Jung-Königswinter).
