Hospices

All people should live in dignity until the end. This is the goal of hospice work. It serves patients with an incurable illness who can only be treated palliatively, i.e. to alleviate symptoms.

A distinction is made between outpatient and inpatient hospice work.

Outpatient hospice work

Here, nursing services care for patients at home, supported by relatives and volunteers coordinated by hospice associations.

Inpatient hospice work

Hospices are care facilities that provide holistic care for patients. The care team consists of nurses, social workers, chaplains and doctors. Relatives and friends are also involved. They can visit the patients at any time or even live with them in the hospice.

The Bonn hospice, hospice associations and outpatient services can be found in the  Bonn social address book.

Charter for the care of seriously ill and dying people in Germany

The City of Bonn signed the charter in August 2022 and is thus committed to implementing the goals.
