Aim of the offer
Through more intensive coordination of individual support, pupils should be ready for training by the end of lower secondary level if possible so that they can make a direct transition into training.
Pupils who need more time for the transition to training are given further individual and appropriate support after lower secondary level through early coordinated advice and support structures so that they can then enter training.
Contents
- Career guidance: Depending on requirements, the pupil is assigned a career mentor after the admissions interview in Year 8 and thus receives intensive support in career planning.
- Development conference: A development conference is held for each pupil every semester, starting in the first semester of year 9. The development conferences are attended by the class teachers, school social workers or career guidance coordinators, careers advisors from the employment agency, careers advisors and program coordinators. From the 10th year of school attendance, the pupil is involved in the development conference together with the parents. Extensive information about the young person, such as resources, challenges and goals, is gathered in the development conferences. Individual development planning is coordinated and the integration of targeted support services is discussed. The development conferences are organized by the programme coordinators at the advice centre for youth vocational assistance.
- Transition planning: The planning of the transition from the general school to the next stage begins in the development conference in the first semester of year 10, to which representatives of the vocational colleges are invited for the first time if required. Relevant information about the students leaving school is passed on to the receiving system. Personal handover meetings are also held.
As the program progresses, the development conferences take place at the vocational colleges in Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district as well as at educational institutions and vocational training and preparation institutions.
