Scanzelt - new offer in the city archive for independent digitization of archive and library material
In addition to the book scanner, archive users can now use another tool in the reading room of the City Archive to create digital copies independently and free of charge:
The so-called ScanTent offers a protected and well-lit shooting environment, can be operated with your own smartphone with or without a scanning app and thus facilitates the independent photographing of historical documents and books up to A3 size.
The integrated LED lighting can be switched on if required. Special scan apps (e.g. "DocScan") can make the process of saving and editing images easier, but are not mandatory. Digitization also works without problems with a normal smartphone camera.
To protect the archive materials, the following documents cannot be digitized with the Scanzelt:
- Oversized formats from 50x35 cm
- thread-stitched files
- Fragile and/or damaged documents
- AV media (contact prints, negatives, slides, glass plates, microfilms and microfiches)
In addition to the self-production of digital copies, there is also the option (for a fee) of placing digitization orders with the digitization workshop of the City Archive:
