First "JeKits" concert at the Bonn music school

Teachers from the Ludwig van Beethoven Music School teach more than 1,500 children at elementary school in Bonn in the NRW education program "JeKits". On Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 11 a.m., a good 150 of the participants will present their skills to the public for the first time in a joint concert at the Evangelische Kreuzkirche (Kaiserplatz 1): Under the motto "The language of the world is music", instrumental ensembles, choirs and dance groups will show what they have been working on in the school year that is drawing to a close.

"JeKits - Jedem Kind Instrumente, Tanzen, Singen" is a cultural education program in primary and special schools in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Children acquire basic musical skills through weekly participation in "JeKits" lessons and ensemble rehearsals. The project takes place in cooperation between extracurricular educational partners such as music schools or dance institutions and the schools. There are three alternative focuses: Instruments, dancing or singing.

Cooperation with general education schools is becoming increasingly important for the Bonn music school. The demand for afternoon care for primary school children and the changing reality of life in families make it difficult for many children to attend music school. Lessons at schools, for example in the "JeKits" program and the self-developed cooperation with open all-day facilities, can counteract this.
