"I am very pleased that the Council has continued to place its trust in me and thus acknowledged my commitment to the city of Bonn," says Helmut Wiesner. "I will continue to work with enthusiasm on the many projects for the further development of our city in matters of environmental and climate protection, housing creation and mobility. I would also like to thank my staff in the department, who have really achieved a lot and worked successfully under my leadership over the past few years!"

Helmut Wiesner has been an alderman of the City of Bonn since May 1, 2016 and is responsible for the Planning, Environment and Transport department. He studied spatial planning at the University of Dortmund from 1982 and graduated in 1988. He completed his legal clerkship at the Cologne district government. He passed the major state examination for the higher technical administrative service in 1991 at the Higher Examination Office in Frankfurt am Main (specializing in urban planning).
Helmut Wiesner was initially Head of the Environmental Protection Coordination Office at the City of Brühl and took over the management of the newly established Environmental Office in 1992. From 1996, he was head of the newly formed Office for the Environment and Building Regulations. In 2005, he moved from Brühl to the city administration of Bornheim as head of the urban development department. From October 2013 until his move to Bonn in 2016, Helmut Wiesner was Technical Councillor for the city of Troisdorf. He is married and has three children.
