Experiment e.V - The Experiment in International Living

Since 1932, "Experiment" has been placing people regardless of origin, culture, religion, type of school or age in host families worldwide in order to contribute to mutual understanding and the peaceful coexistence of cultures. All participants are willing to share their everyday lives and learn from each other.

80 years ago, the US American Donald B. Watt carried out this "experiment" on his own initiative and also brought students to Germany. Experiment e.V. was founded here in 1952, also as a private initiative. Today, the non-profit association based in Bonn facilitates worldwide exchanges for almost 2,000 participants every year - as student exchanges, voluntary service, demi pairs or internships. Germany is also a host country. Over 1,000 members and 600 volunteers across Germany help to support incoming participants and their host families, as well as helping with preparatory seminars for outgoing participants and selection interviews.

Experiment e.V. sponsors numerous scholarship programs from its own funds or receives support from companies, institutions and foundations. In 2011, the scholarship program for high school and secondary school students received the "Alliance for Democracy and Tolerance" award. Experiment e.V. cooperates with the BMZ, the DAAD, the Federal Foreign Office, the Goethe Institute, the German Bundestag, the Kreuzberg Children's Foundation, the Mercator Foundation and the ZEIT Foundation, among others.
