Liriodendron. The name is derived from the ancient Greek word leirion, meaning lily; dendron means tree.
A deciduous, stately avenue and park tree with a high, mighty crown and picturesquely drooping periphery, up to 35 meters high and 20 meters wide.

Leaf shape: strikingly unusual with curved lobes and truncated tip, magnificent golden-yellow autumn coloration
Flowers: inconspicuous in May/June, tulip-like, green-yellow-orange, only blooms after 30 years
Fruits: in upright, spindle-like, 6 - 10 cm long cones.
Properties: loves warmth and is frost-hardy and resistant to urban climates, provides valuable timber.
