The focus of the goal: limiting the global rise in temperature, supporting emerging and developing countries in climate protection and insuring 500 million poor people against climate risks by 2025.
After all, millions of people are already suffering from the climate crisis due to droughts, storms, floods and crop failures, and their livelihoods are at risk. Climate change is not only an ecological threat, but also a social one.
The causes and consequences of climate change are very unevenly distributed: Those who are poorest are generally the most affected by climate change and are least able to help themselves. Those who are rich have contributed the most to global warming over the decades due to their lifestyle and are less affected where they live. At the same time, it is easier for those affected to protect themselves and pay for damages.
The slogan of Fair Week is therefore: climate justice!
Climate justice means that all people - regardless of where they live or their social status - have the right to live protected from climate change in a just and sustainable world.
