Overview
The craftsman's parking permit is intended for craft businesses or similar businesses,
- who frequently work at different locations,
- carry out repair and assembly work, for this purpose
- use service or workshop vehicles that have clearly legible company lettering permanently affixed to both long sides of the vehicle and which
- have to transport heavy or extensive material or tools,
- and ambulant social services
make their work easier.
This is because the craftsmen's parking permit entitles them to park free of charge in restricted no-parking zones, in public parking spaces where parking discs are compulsory, at parking meters and in the area of parking ticket machines, without observing the maximum duration or in residents' parking spaces. However, the exemption only applies if no other parking facilities are available within a reasonable distance and only for the duration of the work assignment. It does not allow the vehicle to be parked in the area of the business premises.
The craftsman's parking permit for the administrative districts in NRW can be approved for one year. In addition, a craftsman's parking permit can be issued for one year within NRW.
A maximum of five vehicles can be registered on one permit, whereby each permit is only valid in one vehicle and in the original. If several vehicles are used, each additional vehicle requires its own permit (reduced fee).
Tradespeople who do not have their own parking spaces in residents' parking areas can be issued a maximum of one permit to park in the relevant residents' parking area - following a case-by-case assessment - provided that regular business trips can be proven. No special permits can be issued for employees' vehicles.
