Exhibition: INTERACTIONS x WEtransFORM
Throughout the summer, we once again invite you to play with many works of art in the outdoor and public indoor areas of the Bundeskunsthalle. A great experience for the whole family!
This year, the Bundeskunsthalle's theme year of sustainability is in dialog with playful installations: Visions for a more sustainable and forward-looking way of shaping our environment are reflected in the plant project by La Fabrique Terrestre on the roof or the impressive tall Tree.ONE made of algae polymer by ecoLogicStudio in the foyer. The impressive wooden installation VERT by AHEC/Diez Office/OMC°C offers an aesthetic space on the forecourt that invites you to linger in the cool shade of the plant sails.
Returning from last year are the popular Circular Appearing Rooms water pavilion by Jeppe Hein and the Bonn slide by Carsten Höller. The organic climbing frame by Temitayo Ogunbiyi You will follow the Rhein and compose play (playground) and the three soccer goal walls Camouflage/Torwand 1-3 [Croy, Kleff, Maier] by Olaf Nicolai will once again enrich the playful course in the spirit of sustainable thinking. Esra Gülmen's seesaw Controversy Teeter-Totter strikes a balance between two contrasting statements, while Linda Nadji's two gilded high seats Meanwhile create an unusual change of perspective and many opportunities for communication.
Many new works of art also invite visitors to play, reflect or linger: Ina Weber's Trümmerbahnen Minigolf lets you playfully experience individual and collective competition and Dennis Fuchs' table tennis work Hin und Her raises questions about equal opportunities and fairness. The installation Carried by the Wind by Raul Walch varies different flags by playing with light and wind and their influence on colors and shapes; the weather birch by Tomas Kleiner also plays with air-based movements as an artistic-meteorological instrument.
The sound installation RadiOh Europa by Action Hero enchants with love songs collected in Europe; Jonas Brinker presents Nightfall, a loving observation of fireflies in New York, and Yawei Chen's Electronic Pets explores whether digital content, in this case cute animals, can provide emotional comfort.
All of the works and projects contain their own narrative or vision that needs to be discovered alongside the interaction. At the same time, they deal with various visual languages as universal forms of communication and make it clear that openness serves both the individual and the shared experience and promotes togetherness, tolerance and sensitivity, in which behavior and thought patterns can be - playfully - questioned.
The exhibition will be shown in German and English.
Information on the sustainability of the organizer and the event:
In addition to biodiverse work that supports biodiversity, this exhibition will showcase positions that combine interactive installations with ecological concerns in the best sense of the word.
The Bundeskunsthalle has drawn up its carbon footprint for 2023 using the CO2 balancing standard for cultural institutions in Germany. The Bundeskunsthalle has been using 100 percent green electricity since 2016. The entire building is heated with district heating. The lighting has largely been converted to LED.
The air conditioning of the Forum is individually adapted to the outside temperatures and the number of spectators. The brightness of the large LED wall on the building façade and the exterior lighting is reduced according to the respective conditions. In the area of exhibition architecture, greater attention will be paid to reusing these or elements thereof.
The Bundeskunsthalle is one of the first cultural institutions in the museum landscape to offer a climate ticket at the start of the Sustainability 2025 theme year. The aim is to encourage visitors to actively make their own contribution to climate protection.
