The cable car gondolas hover high above the houses so that there is sufficient distance between the gondolas and the buildings. In addition, the cabins are designed in such a way that a direct view downwards is prevented to protect privacy. This can be ensured by the design, the arrangement of the windows and also technically, e.g. by clouding the windows in certain sections. Details can only be specified in the further planning stage. They depend on the system of the respective cable car manufacturer, which will be determined before the  planning approval procedure. Only when the type of cable car has been determined will detailed planning be carried out together with the manufacturer.

Anyone who thinks of the rattling of older ski lifts has the wrong idea. Modern ropeways are quieter. However, the noise measurement for each cable car installation must be determined individually and can only be reliably estimated after detailed planning by the respective manufacturer. A noise protection report must be prepared for the  planning approval procedure, which citizens can view. The following generally applies to cable cars: The drives, which are located at the end stations in the current planning, cause more noise than the rolling over of the supports. In addition, according to the current planning status, the cabins will be suspended high in the air in most places, for example around 40 meters above the street level of Urstadtstraße.

Once the cable car has been built, control measurements will be carried out again during acceptance. The cable car in Berlin, whose system is comparable to Bonn, is well below the legally prescribed limits in terms of noise.

These issues are part of the further planning and the  planning approval procedure. Among other things, a noise protection report must be prepared for the planning approval procedure, so that the issues raised will be addressed. The aspect of possible visual nuisance (e.g. shadow impact) will also be considered in further planning steps.

If private land has to be used for the construction of the cable car (e.g. by erecting masts or flying over land), the City of Bonn will contact the affected landowners at an early stage and negotiate the modalities of use. If an amicable agreement cannot be reached, the NRW Cable Car Act provides for the possibility of expropriation. In this case, any claims for compensation are governed by the NRW State Expropriation and Compensation Act (Landesenteignungs- und -entschädigungs-Gesetz NRW).
