Living in old age

Most senior citizens want to be able to run their own household for as long as possible. However, this is only possible if the apartment is suitable for senior citizens or people with disabilities. There are numerous publicly subsidized as well as privately financed apartments in Bonn.

Living with service

are apartments that are especially suitable for older people. All residential projects offer additional services that can be called upon. Housing with services is often referred to as assisted living. However, this is not a clearly defined form of housing by law and there are no generally applicable minimum requirements.

In addition to the normal tenancy agreement, a so-called care contract is concluded in which a basic service is guaranteed and optional services are offered.

Living in a home

There are a large number of inpatient facilities in Bonn, some of which also offer services such as short-term or day care. If care at home is no longer possible due to a need for care, the necessary assistance can be provided by moving to a senior citizens' facility.

The care insurance fund contributes to the care costs if a degree of care is available. Short-term or day care is a useful supplement to care at home.

Questions about funding can be clarified via the Seniorenruf:
